British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
