Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The newest Far Cry instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is known for celebrating violence and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while telling captivating, politically driven tales. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose projects have embodied all of those things.

What to Expect

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in each season.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and assistance.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone series. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the essence of people through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and bring our common bold, daring sensibility to the television.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
