Across the intensely contested realm of gaming, it's typical for new contenders to disappear as rapidly as they explode onto the stage.
But Battlefield 6 is hoping to change that.
It's the latest entry in a established combat FPS line commonly described as a grittier answer to the CoD series.
The title has never quite been able to match its best-known rival in aspects of units sold or players, but indicators suggest the new installment could narrow the difference.
An early access session allowing players a chance to test the game in recent months set new benchmarks, and the excitement leading up to its release has been massive.
However the undertaking is still a significant risk for company its creators, which has according to sources invested vast amounts of money producing it.
Our team has communicated to some of the creators to find out how they expect it will pay off.
Development Group and Company Partnership
Four studios were creating the game under the collaborative umbrella.
Among them are long-time developer the Swedish studio, headquartered in Europe, LA's Motive team and Ripple Effect in North America.
One more, the Guildford team, is based in England.
The general manager is the general manager of the two EU-based studios, and shares with reporters that, in respect of what it's providing gamers, "this new game is probably unbeatable."
Building On Past Mistakes
The game follows the heels of the advanced Battlefield 2042, launched in the past to a unfavorable feedback it struggled to overcome.
"We probably would not be able to create and produce the latest entry lacking the lessons we had in the last release," she shares with the press.
One of those lessons was to get fans involved from the start, and the team initiated closed player playtests in recent months.
This "reaction was explosively encouraging," comments Rebecka.
A further missing element from Battlefield 2042 was a solo experience, which has been reintroduced for this release.
The Guildford team project head Fasahat "Fas" Salim is the person responsible for "guaranteeing those missions are as fun and interesting as feasible for the players."
Despite allegations that the size of the project had created pressure for the different teams partnering across continents to build the game, Fas is optimistic about the endeavor.
"Partnering with different perspectives, varied experiences, it's a really interesting atmosphere to be part of on a regular basis," he explains.
"This whole approach has been a fresh take but something really inspiring because we are partnering with individuals from internationally."
Concerning the pressure on the crew, the director says: "There is pressure but additionally it's motivating.
"We're dealing with a big project. It's arguably the biggest that many of us have ever worked on."
Emerging Developer Adds Fresh View
That's definitely true of at least a single team member, lighting artist Vlad Kokhan.
This young professional produces the lighting elements that define the mood, style, and direction of the single-player campaign.
Vlad undertook an work placement at Criterion before obtaining a role there, and currently works with reduced hours while finishing his VFX qualification at his school.
The developer says he's a long-time fan of the franchise, and recalls playing the fourth instalment of the series at a friend's house when he was a child.
Working on it now, as his debut industry job, "is hard to believe as real."
"It's very amazing observing the promotion in many places," he comments.
"To know that I have contributed my own thing into the game is very unbelievable."
