The Gruesome Animated Film Ending That Haunts Audiences

Among every adult-oriented animated films I’ve ever viewed, no other has remained with me as much as the fear-filled ending of a graphically gory and highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, somber , often savage universe that included a few small , desolate hints of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars feels like it came from a desire to expand animation even more, the director stated that it was actually an effort to communicate a global, cross-cultural message regarding “the common origin of each battle.”

This theme is conveyed through a group of brightly hued teddy bears , clearly modeled after a popular series of lovable characters.

Maturing in a community built around militarism and the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are obsessed with slaughtering unicorns, due to a sacred text that tells the bears they were once masters of the woodland, until the horned beings drove them out.

Others did not entirely accepted the propaganda, and prefer to try out narcotics and fornicate in the forest.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these bright beings display sexual organs , definite urges.

For a certain notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the war against unicorns transforms into a path to power — and specifically to dominance above his gentler, kinder brother the character Tubby.

The character is a bully and an obvious sociopath , and as fear dominates his squad and kills his teammates individually, he seizes more and more influence on his own behalf, through ever more bloody, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are enduring their own terror, in the form of an expanding, destructive monster in their habitat.

“In the early stages, it feels like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “But then it becomes a more dramatic and sorrowful movie. And ultimately, it’s a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars commences similar to one of the most playful features by a renowned animator, which find a naughty glee in allowing drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Then it becomes closer to a darker movie from that artist, including ever more visual gore and a tangible relation to genuine suffering of battle.

Ultimately, it’s an outright Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The horror that makes this a perfect Halloween watch starts well before than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted lovers of violence, for lovers of graphic films who want to see a film they have not viewed until now, and can endure a plot that offers unflinching brutality.

Watch it in a dimly lit space with no disturbances, and that ending will crawl into your mind and linger.
