The Opening Xbox Game Pass Games of 2026 Reveal Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.
Across the gaming landscape, fans keep sounding the death bells for the Xbox brand. Xbox was recently outsold by a relatively obscure console. Platform-specific outlets have started writing regarding Sony's platform as a new development. Last year proved to be an era of significant turmoil for the tech giant's gaming arm. Yet, based exclusively on the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it becomes clear that the green gaming company still intends to attract subscribers with compelling titles on its key platform.
The Current Inclusions
A pair of titles you can play right now as you read this, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, don't represent the biggest draws. Instead, the excitement lies in what's arriving to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's deserving of attention.
Significant Forthcoming Releases
On Jan. 13, Game Pass will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that breaks up conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "an ideal blend of terror and combat."
Noteworthy Smaller Games
Yet, the less-hyped additions arriving shortly on the service deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, a fantastic but under-the-radar dungeon crawler offering thrilling gameplay, becomes available next week — and it merits a playthrough even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year may draw you in remarkably quickly.
Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, is another one to watch. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Robust Selection of Games
All in all, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, nor are they massive exclusive blockbusters that validate the subscription alone. But Microsoft's additions here are rock solid. It offers a healthy blend of old games you might have missed and relatively recent releases that failed to receive the spotlight they warranted upon launch — transforming them into excellent choices to find a new audience on Game Pass.
Be prepared to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
