It has been confirmed that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Comeback for the Franchise
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their roles will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, considering the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several prominent actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
Current Projects and Release Timeline
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Regarding the shoot:
